Opinion of Islamic scholars on Jihad : ウィキペディア英語版
Opinion of Islamic scholars on Jihad

Jihad connotes a wide range of meanings: anything from an inward spiritual struggle to attain perfect faith to a political or military struggle. This article presents opinions of different scholars on Jihad.
==Quran reference on Jihad==

It is based on the definitions provided in the Quran.()
2:190 Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. Allah does not like transgressors.
2:191 And kill them wherever you overtake them and expel them from wherever they have expelled you, and fitnah is worse than killing. And do not fight them at al-Masjid al- Haram until they fight you there. But if they fight you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.
2:192 And if they cease, then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. 2:193 Fight them until there is no () fitnah and () worship is (to be ) for Allah . But if they cease, then there is to be no aggression except against the oppressors.
26:69 “Those who strive (jaahada) for Us, We guide them in Our ways”. Here the meaning is to carry on a spiritual struggle to attain nearness to God.
29:6 “Whoever strives (jaahada), he only strives for his own self”. The meaning here again is struggle for self-purification.
29:8 “We have enjoined on man to do good to his parents. But if they strive (jaahadaa) with you to worship that of which you have no knowledge (false gods ), then obey them not”. Here the meaning is that of ‘arguing’ or ‘disputing’, and is applied to an act of unbelievers.
22:78 “Strive for God a true striving (jihad).”
25:52 “Obey not the unbelievers and hypocrites, and strive against them a mighty striving (jihad) with it (the Quran ).
4:94 “Those believers who sit back, not disabled by injury, are not equal to those who do jihad in the way of God with their wealth and lives.”
Qu‘ood is to sit back and be lazy. Jihad is in contrast to this, meaning ‘making a full effort’ even at the cost of one’s life.〔http://www.muslim.org/sa-case/evidence/s17.htm〕
